8/17/2026 - SPOTLIGHT: Learn how BCMUD water employees are helping to educate District residents and the public about water operations

Dear Brushy Creek MUD residents,

We want to highlight a recent event that took place at our BCMUD Water Treatment Facility in early August. We also want to shoutout to District employees who helped make this event a phenomenal success.

On Aug. 10, BCMUD Water Facility Operator Tomieray Grant and Senior Water Operator Nicholas Geyer provided a tour of the District’s water facilities to a group of community residents known as the BC METS (which stands for Meet, Eat, Train, Socialize).

Before the tour began, BC METS members, whose ranks include people with engineering backgrounds and even former NASA employees, engaged extensively with Nick and Tomieray, asking several questions centered on the technical aspects of the District’s water operations. Nick and Tomieray provided knowledgeable, yet easily understandable answers to all questions and continued to set that tone throughout the rest of the tour.

BCMUD Adult Program Specialist Maura Morrow set up the event and received several compliments from the group about how Nick and Tomieray created a thoroughly immersive and educational experience for all participants.

The Aug. 10 Water Facility Tour stands as a benchmark for a program the District hopes to launch in the future called The Brushy Creek Academy, an initiative designed to educate District residents and the public of all ages and backgrounds on the ins and outs of water and wastewater treatment.

We want to thank Tomieray, Nick, Maura, and all the residents who participated in this educational event. It was a small but impactful example of what makes and sustains the Brushy Creek Life.
